Right had this complaint now for nearly 2 years and cannot get a diagnosis off my Doc. He started off saying it is post viral fatigue but now says it shoulda got better in a couple of months. Since then I've had a battery of tests, bloods, liver function, pressures, heart rates, full body scan, brain scan, colonoscopy gland tests, et al. Nothing, all fuctioning perfectly well so what is causing this debilitating fatigue, pain, lethargy and cognitive disfunction?
Now he has sent me off to see some Professor bloke to se if he can fathom it out. Personally I think it is ME but what do I know.

No doubt your gp has asked this, but do you remember if your problem started following a 'flu' like illness or a chest infection. Before retiring I was a cpn (community psychiatric nurse) & had a lot of people referred by their gp suffering 'depression' following an infection. Though I doubt many depressed patients would be able to take a Triumph out greenlaning in N.Wales, however, we all enjoy a good ride out, makes you feel great! Tony
ReplyDeleteIs there someting about ME and redness around the elbow joints?
ReplyDeleteRead up on fibromyalgia as well. Although I know that looking up your symptoms on the internet can be a Very Bad Idea, in my case I had ME years and years ago and had been concerned for a couple of years that I was suffering with it again. A couple of months ago Doctor decided to try treating for fibromyalgia and prescribed Tramadol and Citalopram. I'd had Citalopram previously as an antidepressant but it hadn't helped with the aches and pains. Combined with the Tramodol, it has worked a treat. I read that exercise could also help so instead of not doing much because everything ached, I decided to make a big effort to start exercising at the same time and have noticed a big improvement - people have commented on how much better I seem.

ReplyDeleteShould get the diagnosis in 3 weeks or so with luck. This Prof bloke seems on the ball. As for the red elbows Richard, The Midget puts that down to leaning on bars.
Thanks for all advice and I will look a lot further when I get some sort of diagnosis of the prof. Food intolerance tests have also been mentioned but yeast intolerance was a favourite. That means no bread and worst of all no Guinness

ReplyDeleteThe whole thing started wiyh three heavy cold or flu type things in close succession around Xmas 2009. Been up and down since then. At my worst last week with absolute exhaustion but no obvious illness. Any little infection hits me for six for instance an abcess in my gum a month ago had me in bed for 2 days.
God luck with it. Once you've got a diagnosis, you'll be able to deal with it better. Not knowing just adds to the worry.
ReplyDeleteThat should have said Good luck.....
